10. Hugh Lamberton
Dead Famous…
“Principle Confectioner in Glasgow”

Hugh Lamberton was born on
9th May 1819 in Kilmaurs,
East Ayrshire.

On the 1841 census he is recorded
as being an "agricultural labourer".
He later moved along with his wife
and their three children to
Hutchesontown, Gorbals and his
position then being that of a
"master confectioner" and employer
of 40 people, later becoming senior
partner of John Gray and Co
wholesale confectioner.
Hugh took part in the planning of
the Glasgow City Chambers and was
present at the laying of the
foundation stone on October 6th
1883.


Died 25/5/1888 at
33 St. Andrews Drive
Pollokshields.
